Koforidua, March 16, GNA – Mr Yaw Barimah, the Eastern Regional Minister, on Wednesday called on graduates from tertiary institutions to discard the notion that it was the responsibility of the government alone to employ them.
He said the government’s policy of private sector participation in the economy was an attempt to make individuals take their own initiatives so as to reduce the cycle of poverty in the country. Mr Barimah said this at the launch of an advertising magazine, “The Search” at Koforidua, on Wednesday.
He commended the initiative taken by the managers of the magazine, who were students of the All Nation University College, Koforidua, and said it was an attempt to realise the economic and commercial potential of the students.
Mr Barimah called on other students with similar talents to unearth them so as to make them self-employed and also serve as model for others to emulate.
Nana Adjei Boateng, the Acting New Juaben Municipal Chief Executive, called for collaboration between the public and private sectors to move the nation forward.
The first copy of the magazine was sold at 5 million cedis and the second went for 4 million cedis. 16 March 05
