Adu-Gyamfi re-elected chairman of NMC

Accra, Nov. 28, GNA 96 The National Media Commission (NMC) on Monday re-elected Mr Paul Adu-Gyamfi, the representative of the Ghana Bar Association, as the Chairman of the Fifth Commission for a three-year term.

A statement signed on Tuesday by Mr George Sarpong, Executive Secretary, said the members of the NMC re-elected Mr Adu-Gyamfi unopposed at a meeting immediately following their swearing-in and inauguration.

The statement said this was the first time the NMC had re-elected a sitting chairman and also the first time a candidate had been returned unopposed.

The statement quoted Mr Adu-Gyamfi after his re-election as saying he would ‘relentlessly pursue the mandate of the Commission as enshrined under the 1992 Constitution by ensuring the freedom and independence of the media and the promotion of responsible journalism in Ghana’.
