Silver Spring, Maryland – The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) office in Ghana has been selected to implement a five-year, $5 million HIV/AIDS program funded by Global Funds to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM).
The program will cover four main service areas – voluntary counseling and testing, care and support, capacity building, and networking – to reduce the incidence and impact of HIV/AIDS in the country.
ADRA Ghana was among 200 organizations invited to present concept papers for consideration and one of only three non-governmental organizations and three private sector institutions selected to work on the project.
ADRA Ghana has also received $25,000 from the Ghana AIDS Commission (GAC) to provide care and support to people living with HIV/AIDS, and their families, in two districts in eastern Ghana. About 100 people living with HIV/AIDS in the Birim North and Kwahu South will receive care and support services over a seven-month period.
ADRA is present in more than 120 countries providing individual and community development and disaster relief without regard to political or religious association, age or ethnicity.
