ADRA Ghana assisting 75 farmers to establish woodlots

Ayireso (C/R), March 14, GNA – The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Ghana is assisting 75 farmers from Ayireso and Kwei in the Awutu-Effutu-Senya district to establish individual woodlots as source of fuel.

The objective of this was to stop people from the two communities from depending on forest reserves in the area for firewood.

Mr. Isaac Kankam-Boadu, Field Project Officer of the Winneba District of ADRA said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency after visiting some of the farms at Ayireso and Kwei on Saturday. He said ADRA provided Cassia seedlings and had been also giving the farmers food for work up to the period they would be harvesting their farms.

He said ADRA had plans to construct a borehole for the two communities this year to help solve their perennial water problem.
