ADRA assist farmers to protect Kwei forest reserves

Awutu Bontrase (C/R) May 5, GNA- To avoid the encroachment of Kwei Forest Reserves, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is assisting over 70 farmers in the area to establish woodlots to serve as fuel wood.

The local reserves are among those in the Awutu-Effutu-Senya and the Agona districts that have been declared as Biodiversity Conservations.

The Assemblyman for the Nfadwene-Ayreisu Electoral Area and Secretary to the Farmers Group, Mr Daniel Asomani made this known to the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Awutu Nfadwene on Wednesday. He said ADRA was supplying the farmers with tree seedlings and hybrid maize and other crops to be interplanted. Mr Asomani said the farmers were being provided with “food for work” until they harvest their crops.
