New Edubiase (Ash), March 8, GNA – Mr Dominic Yeboah, Adansi East District Chief Executive has stated that if Ghana was to progress and obtain the goals and heights it had set itself through the several economic and political programmes, then it was time Ghanaians changed their attitudes and adopted a most pragmatic and reconciliatory stance in their development efforts.
This, he said would be a more lasting and meaningful tribute to the founding fathers who helped to deliver the nation from the shackles of colonialism.
Addressing a parade of school children, students of second cycle institutions, voluntary organisations and other groups at New Edubiase to mark the 47th independence anniversary on Saturday, Mr Yeboah called on all Ghanaians to roll their sleeves up and get down to work to salvage the country.
To achieve this, however, he said, it was necessary for Ghanaians to bury their differences and participate fully in the planned programmes and policies of the government.
“It is my fervent hope that with the right political climate, Ghana could achieve an accelerated socio-economic development to the amazement and admiration of the international community”.
The DCE called on the people in the district to fulfil their tax obligations to the assembly and the central government so that the assembly can continue to provide them with basic amenities.
He also asked the people to get involved in the control of the environment by stopping all illegal logging activities, farming around water bodies, bush burning and uncontrolled sand winning.
Mr Yeboah further urged all those who have attained the voting age to turn out in their numbers and register when the registration exercise opens to enable them choose the right president and parliamentarian in the December poll.
