Adomi bridge to be closed for a year

The Adomi Bridge across the Volta River is to be closed for a year for rehabilitation works.

As part of the exercise, the deck and all hangers of the bridge will be replaced.

Two ferries will also be provided at the Atimpoku end of the river to convey vehicles and passengers from Kumasi, Kpone and Koforidua to Asijuma, Boso, Kpando, Hohoe and the Northern part of the Volta Region.

Director of Bridges of the Ghana Highway Authority, Owusu Sekyere Antwi told XYZ NEWS that other alternative routes are being finalized before the bridge is eventually closed to vehicular traffic.
