Busua (W/R), Dec 1, GNA- The Association of Health Services Administrators of Ghana (AHSAG) has said the Ghana Health Service, (GHS) would continue to experience strikes if the authorities failed to administer the Additional Duty Hours Allowances (ADHA) properly. Mr Kwesi Addai-Donkoh, National President of the AHSAG said this at the 29th Annual Conference and workshop on Public Procurement Management at Busua near Agona Nkwanta in the Western Region.
Mr Addai-Donkoh said though the various professional groups met to agree on the way forward, “some faceless elements have gone ahead to implement what they think fit”.
He, therefore, cautioned that “the service would know no peace until it has learnt to see wisdom in the saying that what touches all must be approved by all”.
Mr Addai-Donkoh commended the government for the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) but suggested that an intensive education on the scheme and its implementation must be extended to the communities and districts.
He said since the passage of the Ghana Health Service and Teaching Hospital Acts in 1996, it had brought unclear definitions, duplication and conflict of roles between the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Ghana Health Service (GHS).
Mr Addai-Donkoh therefore urged the government as a matter of urgency to rectify the situation.
Nana Kobina Nketsiah V, Omanhene of Essikadu who chaired the function, commended participants for their attendance and urged them to adopt new measures in their operations.
He said without proper health care and administrators, most policies and programmes relating to health, would fail.
