Adjobue organises clean-up exercise

Adjobue (E/R), Feb. 24, GNA – The people of Adjobue in the Birim North District of the Eastern Region, on Saturday organised a clean-up exercise to clear filth in the community. The people, mostly the youth, weeded and swept the surroundings and cleared choked gutters around the community.

Addressing the people, Mr. Oscar Yaw Amuzu, Health Committee Secretary of the town, said the exercise would be organised frequently to help eliminate the breeding places of mosquitoes in the area. He stated that since: “Cleanliness is next to Godliness”, there was the need for them to keep the environment clean.

Madam Rose Amaning, Staff Midwife of the clinic here, called on the people to unite to provide social amenities, because the government alone could not ensure the development of the area.

She asked them to unite to improve their standard of living. They should also participate in communal labour regularly.

Madam Amaning appealed to the people to support the efforts of the district assembly to enhance sanitation in the community. She stated that the clinic was serving a larger community and therefore, needed additional staff in respect of cleaners and a watchman.
