Adelaide Benneh heads Banking College

Mrs Adelaide Mary Benneh, until recently an advisor of the Bank of Ghana, is now the Principal of the National Banking College.

She takes over, on secondment, from Ms Patience King, former Senior Advisor of the bank, who was also seconded to head the college and who is now on retirement, a Bank of Ghana source has said.

In an interview, Mrs Benneh said her vision is to make the college the centre of excellence in banking education, research and consultancy in Ghana especially, and in the rest of the West African sub-region in general.

Mrs Benneh is a product of Aburi Girls’ Secondary School, where she became the Senior Prefect in her final year. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Ghana, Legon, and an MSc. in Management Sciences from the University of Manchester, UK.

She has attended a number of programmes, including ‘’Human Resources Development’’ in Vienna; ‘’Human Resource Strategy and Globalization’’ at the Golden Gate University in San Francisco, USA; “Human Resources Development’’ at the University of Pittsburgh, USA; ‘’Manpower Planning’’ at the Institute of Management Studies, University of Sussex, Brighton, UK; ‘’Women in Senior Management’’ at the Royal Institute of Public Administration (RIPA) among others.

Mrs Benneh has worked in a number of departments at the Bank of Ghana, including Foreign Operations as officer and Banking and Exchange Control departments as a manager.

She has also worked at the Human Resources Department for 16 years, including five years as director of the department.

She has published two articles. These are ‘’Human Resources Management and Women in the Financial Institutions in Ghana’’ and “Human Resources Management and Development in the Central Bank of Ghana’’ (World Bank Publication).

Mrs Benneh is married with six children. She is the Nkosuohene of Wirenkyiren Amanfrom in the Eastern Eastern Region, under the stool name Nana Adwoa Asiaa Beyeeman I.
