Addo-Kufuor calls for improved military-civilian cooperation

Sekondi, March 2,GNA- Dr Kwame Addo-Kufuor, Minister of Defence, on Tuesday called on communities living close to military barracks to live in harmony with the soldiers. He made the call during a meeting with some landowners at Apremdo, near Takoradi, who were complaining about the mode by which the authorities of the Second Battalion of Infantry acquired their lands.

Dr Addo-Kufuor said peaceful co-existence between the military and their civilian counterparts would facilitate national development. He expressed regret that the Army’s intention to acquire additional lands near the Battalion to serve as a buffer zone has generated controversy. Dr Addo-Kufuor promised to convey the concerns of the people to the President and the Ghana Armed Forces Council for amicable settlement.
