Addison is an expert in cross-examination – Karbo

Anthony Abayifaa Karbo, former National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), believes lead counsel for the petitioners in the ongoing 2012 election petition, Philip Addison, is an expert in cross-examination and will expose the inconsistencies of the witness for the second respondent who is currently been cross examined.

According to him, unlike counsels for the first and third (Tony Lithur and Tsatsu Tsikata) respondents who asked repetitive questions during their cross-examinations, Addison has been consistent with his style of cross-examination and has been exceptional.

“If Addison is cross examining such a critical witness in this case, we don’t need repetitive questions and he (Lawyer Addison) haven’t asked repetitive questions in his cross-examination. “We (NPP) have a tall list of questions to ask Dr Afari-Gyan. He (Afari-Gyan) raised a classical definition for over voting and eventually he admitted to the definition we know,” he said.

Petitioners’ counsel Philip Addison continues with his cross-examination of the second respondent’s witness, Dr. Afari-Gyan in the hearing of the presidential election petition at the Supreme Court.

Dr Afari Gyan has thus far admitted to double registrations in the foreign registration, over voting at least on the face of the pink sheets, but has played down the significance on duplicate serial numbers which the petitioners claim was a vehicle used to commit many of the irregularities in the 2012 elections.

Speaking on an Accra-based Adom FM, Karbo said “one thing I know about our legal team is that, lawyer Philip Addison’s best area as a practicing lawyer is cross-examination. That is his expertise. He is very sharp when it comes to cross-examination. So far, many answers we have gotten from Dr Afari-Gyan now are very important to this case”.
