Adams Mahama’s burial delayed for Nana Addo

The burial of Upper East Region Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Alhaji Adams Mahama has been rescheduled for Saturday, May 23.

The burial arrangement for Mr Mahama was originally scheduled for Friday, a day after his death and in line with Islamic doctrine.

But, according to our regional correspondent, the burial rites will be held on Saturday instead to allow leader of the party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, attend.

Nana Addo was in the Netherlands as part of a 16-day Europe tour when news about Alhaji Mahama reached him but he has since cut short his tour.

He is expected in town on Friday in time for the burial.

Mr Mahama could not survive an acid attack on him last Wednesday.

He lost his life at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital, where he was receiving emergency medical care.
