Adams Mahama Murder Trial: Court to give Directions

Two suspects standing trial in the murder of the New Patriotic Party’s Upper East regional chairman, Adams Mahama, will appear before the Accra Central Magistrate court today, Tuesday, June 9, 2015.

The two, Gregory Afoko and Musa Essa; are suspected to have carried out the gruesome acid attack which resulted in the death of Mr. Mahama. Afoko has been charged with murder while Essa is charged with abetment of crime and murder.

The presiding judge remanded both men into Police custody after rejecting a bail application by their lawyers.

There were concerns raised over the charge sheet by lawyers for Gregory Afoko because of the association of their client with the national chairman of the opposition party, NPP.

The second suspect, Asabke Alangdi, remains on the run, but the court is expected to give direction on the matter later today.
