Adam’s death: Afoko’s brother for court today

Gregory Afoko, who has been arrested in connection with the acid attack leading to the death of Alhaji Adams Mahama, the Upper East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, will be put before court today.

He has been provisionally charged with murder.

Afoko’s alleged accomplice, Asabke Alangdi, is on the run and is being hunted for by the police.

A reliable source at the Criminal Investigations Department, speaking on condition of anonymity, told The Ghanaian Times in Accra yesterday that they had intensified their search to arrest Asabke.

It is recalled that The Ghanaian Times on May 22, reported that Alhaji Mahama was killed when he went to supervise his housing project at Tindon Sobligo on Wednesday.

He said Mahama’s car stopped in front of his house and just as he was about to alight from it, the suspects emerged from their hideout.

The suspects, who were allegedly hiding a gallon of acid, approached the car and Mahama rolled down his glass window, thinking that they were party members.

Suddenly, one of the suspects poured the acid on his body and they sped off, the police said.

Mahama, the police said, managed to get out of his car, removed his shirt, went back into the car and drove to the hospital where he was admitted at the Intensive Care Unit of the Bolgatanga Central Hospital, but died later.
