Ada, March 18, GNA – Three assembly members in the Ada Traditional Area have said sea erosion along the coastal stretch of Ada was a threat to the area’s development.
Mr Eric Kpalam, Mr Abednego Adzeirdzi and Mr Elias Agbovi, assemblymen for Pute, Koluedor and Toflokpe electoral areas who were addressing group of salt traders at Koluedor, said the area had been endowed with many natural resources which were yet to be developed. They expressed regret that the age-long devastating sea erosion had turned many investors away for fear of losing their investment due to the sea erosion.
The assembly members were of the view that fish farming could be done in the numerous lagoons and the Volta River, in addition to the creation of recreational centres and hotels along the beaches and islands at Ada.
They said residential houses within the traditional area had been washed away by the sea and appealed to the government to speed up arrangements to salvage the situation.
