Ada sea defence project takes off

Big Ada, Aug. 12, GNA – Government has contracted Dredging International, Experts in Marine and Waterway Construction Firm from Belgium, to construct the Sea Defence Wall along the over five-decade devastated Coastline of Ada.

Mr Alban Bagbin, Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, who disclosed this during the celebration of the Annual Ada Okor Asafotufiami Festival of the chiefs and people of the Ada Traditional Area, said government had secured a loan of 67 million Euros for the project.

Mr Bagbin stated that the Ada Sea Defence Project had already taken off, and that consultancy by the contractor had been done on measurement acquisition of data for the construction works.

He said other activities, which had been completed include, the preliminary construction of site offices, general construction works and the preparation of quarries for the supply of armour rocks.

Mr Bagbin used the occasion to introduce Mr Jan De Roeck, Resident Manager of Dredging International, to the chiefs and people of Ada.
