Ada Chiefs to hold discussions with Government

Ada, June 13, GNA – The Ada Traditional Council, Dangme East District Assembly and Parliamentary Caucus would hold discussions with the Government to address sea erosion problem in the area. At the coast of Wokumagbe in the area, buildings including a six unit classroom block has submerged due to sea erosion. Jetse Abram Kabu Akuaku III, Paramount Chief of Ada Traditional Area, announced this after touring some salt mining industries and pumping stations in the area.

The tour was to assess developments of the projects and find lasting solutions to complaints made against the companies by the people.

The companies he visited included Sege Salt Industries, Ideal Salt Company and Dangme Salt Limited.

Managements of the companies however, promised to assist the communities with basic amenities such as schools, health facilities and scholarships for the needy but brilliant pupils and students. At Sege Salt Industry pumping station, Reverend Ghartey, Tour Guard said it could pump about 2.5 million gallons of water from the sea into vast ponds of the company for processing.

The management of Ideal Salt Company has created a canal for water from the sea into its crystallizing salt ponds. Mr Stephen Quaye, Tour Guard of Dangme Salt Company said a canal had been dug and a bridge was currently under construction to direct water into the sea to protect properties of the people. 13 June 06
