ActionAid supports CHRAJ with 107 million cedis

Wa, Sept 17, GNA- ActionAid Ghana, an international non-governmental organization (NGO), has provided 107 million cedis to the Upper West regional office of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to facilitate its educational activities in the region.

In addition it has also promised to increase the amount to 120 million cedis next year.

This was made known by Mr Elias Bruttoh, the Regional Director of CHRAJ when he briefed newsmen on Wednesday on the achievements, prospects and challenges of CHRAJ in the region as part of the activities marking the 10th anniversary of CHRAJ.

He said ActionAid also pays all bills on the servicing of its official vehicle.

Mr Bruttoh expressed gratitude to Konrad Adeneur Foundation, World Vision Ghana and the Catholic Church for their support to the Commission.

He said CHRAJ handled 1,199 complaints comprising violation of the fundamental rights particularly of children and wrongful dismissals among others out of which 1,087 were resolved.

Mr Bruttoh appealed to traditional rulers in the region to join hands with CHRAJ in sensitising the people against meting out instant justice, including lynching of suspected witches.
