Acting IGP visits widow of slain policeman

Kumasi, April 25, GNA – Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mrs. Elizabeth Mills-Robertson has visited the wife and family of Chief Inspector Jacob Kofi Nyame, who was shot and killed in Kumasi on Easter Monday when gunmen suspected to be armed robbers raided his home. The visit formed part of Mrs Mills-Robertson’s maiden tour of Kumasi, during which she will attend a durbar marking the tenth anniversary of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei-Tutu II.

Mrs Mills-Robertson’s entourage included Deputy Commissioner of Police Frank Adu-Poku, head of the Criminal Investigation Department, Deputy Superintendent of Police Kwesi Ofori, Director of Public Affairs and Mr Kwesi Mensah Duku, Acting Ashanti Regional Police Commander. The team expressed condolences and support for the slain police officer’s family members.

Mrs. Mills-Robertson announced a reward of GH¢2,000 for information leading to the arrest of the killers, adding that the police had also intensified the search for them. She urged continued public cooperation with he police to check crime in the country. 25 April 09
