New Edubiase (Ash), Jan. 21, GNA – Mr Dominic Yeboah, acting District Chief Executive for Adansi South, has expressed concern about the high school drop out rate and falling standard in education in the District.
He said it was most unfortunate that at the time the government was providing educational infrastructure in the District to ensure better education for children, the drop out rate was getting higher. Mr Yeboah expressed this concern at the first ordinary meeting of the Adansi South District Assembly at New Edubiase on Thursday.
The DCE said since education determined the success and development of every country, it was a matter of regret that instead of encouraging their wards and children to remain in school, the children were rather dropping out.
He attributed this situation partly to broken homes, teenage motherhood, uncontrolled family sizes and the abuse of children’s rights.
Mr Yeboah called on the Assembly to fashion out a policy or come out with proposals that would stem this tide especially among girls and also urged teachers to intensify their education of parents to encourage their children to complete at least basic school.
Nana Kwaku Amoah, the Presiding Member, commended the Assembly for supporting the Electoral Commission (EC) to ensure peaceful free and fair elections last year.
He entreated the Assembly members to cultivate the maintenance culture to ensure the longevity of all projects in the District.
