Juaso-Ashanti, Nov. 1, GNA – Mr Charles Nana Yaw Osei, Acting Ashanti Regional Chairman of Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), was on Friday elected Presiding Member of Asante-Akim South District Assembly at its last meeting held at Juaso-Ashanti. Mr Osei polled 37 out of the 55 votes in the first balloting with Mr Boakye-Yiadom Manu having 16 votes Mr Boakye Mensah three votes. The other contestants however, withdrew from the second round of voting that confirmed Mr Osei who polled 47 out of the 55 votes. Mr Osei commended the other contestants for their solidarity and promised to provide a dynamic leadership to enable the assembly achieve its development agenda.
He called for unity among the members to accelerate development in the District.
He succeeded Mr Eric Aboagye, Outgoing Presiding Member since 2004.
