Act firmly to discourage students from cheating

School heads have been told to act boldly to discourage students from cheating in both the basic education and senior high school examinations.

Mr Daniel Akwasi Adarkwah, the Officer in-charge of Examinations in the Asante-Akim Central Municipality, said this was necessary to prevent the entire results of their schools from been cancelled by the West African Examination Council (WAEC).

He said students must learn hard to pass their examination and not by cutting corners.

He was speaking at a two-day seminar held to update 43 heads of Junior High Schools (JHS) on rules governing the basic education certificate examination (BECE) at Konongo.

This formed part of efforts at helping to curb the incidence of examination malpractices in the municipality.

Mr Adarkwah urged teachers to do more to adequately prepare their students for the BECE – correctly write their names, name of school, index numbers, subject codes and other valid instructions on the answer booklet.
