Accra needs a world-class medical facility – Veep

The Vice President, K. B. Amissah-Arthur, has called for the establishment of a world?class medical centre in Accra.

Such a facility, he observed, will not only deepen collaboration and exchange of knowledge in the medical field but will also promote medical tourism in Ghana.

Mr Amissah-Arthur made the call when he toured the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Centre in Houston, Texas on Wednesday.

The Centre is reputed to be the number one cancer treatment hospital in the world.

He said it would be mutually beneficial that the hospital establishes an African regional centre of excellence in Ghana, given the strategic location of the country as well as its peaceful, stable and democratic environment.

The Vice President was accompanied by his wife Mrs Matilda Amissah-?Arthur.
