Accra Floods/Fire Disaster: NADMO helpline non-functional

The Accra emergency lines for National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) were not working yesterday June 14, 2015 during the downpour in the city.

People called our helpline needing support for which we decided to contact NADMO through their helplines displayed on the website http://www.ghana.gov.gh/index.php/emergency-numbers, but none of the lines were answered.

Minutes later, one Dora called back to say that the MTN option on the emergency number list is her personal line. She further explained that she has been receiving distress calls on the line which is very disturbing for her.

She gave another set of numbers, which she claimed had been helpful to the people she gave to, but calls to the numbers were not answered.

This development comes after the twin disaster at Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra two weeks ago, that claimed 150 lives and rendered many homeless.

The Kwame Nkrumah Circle and other areas in the city have been reported flooded again on Sunday despite the demolition of structures in waterways and dredging of the Odaw river.
