Accounts Officer on 100 million cedi bail

Tema, July 11, GNA – The Tema Circuit Court ‘A’ has granted bail in the sum of 100 million cedis with two sureties to Kojo Nunoo, an Accounts Officer with Smile Travel and Tours, for allegedly defrauding a self employed man of 4,000 US dollars under the pretext of providing him with Visa and ticket to the United States of America.

He pleaded not guilty to defrauding by false pretence and the court presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu, adjourned the case to August 10, this year.

Prosecuting Assistance Superintendent of Police Christopher Quaicoo, told the court that the complainant Mr John Arhin through a witness in the case was introduced to Nunoo as someone who could assist him get visa to Canada.

Mr Arhin then paid 4,000 dollars for documentation and Air Ticket. He said when the stipulated date given to the complainant elapsed without getting the visa he became suspicious and reported to the Regional Criminal Investigations Department for investigations.

According to the prosecutor, the accused after his arrest was admitted to a bail and was given specific days to report to police but he refused whiles his surety also refused to attend court. He was spotted by the police on July 7, this year and was re-arrested, he said.
