Accountants should strive for excellence

Kumasi, June 1, GNA – An accountant has appealed to his colleagues to strive to always work within the framework of the code of ethics of their profession. Mr Yaw Oti-Boateng, Ashanti Regional chairman of the Association of Educational Accountants, urged them to be motivated to upgrade their skills and knowledge to help them become abreast with the dynamics of the principles of accounting.

He was speaking at a meeting of the association in Kumasi at the weekend to honour two of their members who had gained promotions in the Ghana Education Service (GES). They are Mr J.Y. Gyamerah who has been promoted to the rank of Chief Accountant at the head office of the GES and Mr Anthony Anokye Sarfo who has assumed the position of Regional Accountant of Brong-Ahafo Region.

Mr Oti-Boateng appealed to accountants to work hard and do away with malpractices. He commended the two for their promotions and urged members of the association to learn from their good work in the interest of the GES. Mr Gyamerah thanked the association for the honour done them, saying it would help encourage them to strive for excellence.
