Accident victims call for safety on roads

Cape Coast, Sept. 05, GNA – CECON Organization, a Non-Governmental Organization made up of a group of road accidents victims has called on the government to put in more measures to ensure safety on the country’s roads.

The President of the Organization, Mr Nicholas Nimo in an interview with the GNA, said there was the need to raise awareness about their plight to drivers, pedestrians and other road users so that they will be careful when using the roads.

He said the Organization’s main objective was to ensure a reduction in the number of road accidents in the country whiles encouraging and giving hope to accident victims as well as their families.

Mr Nimo said the group together with the Road Safety Commission visited some accident victims at the Central Regional Hospital last Saturday to interact with them and encourage them.

He said some victims who were ignorant about insurance policies were also being briefed on it.

He appealed to drivers to obey traffic rules and regulations and also avoid over-speeding, unnecessary over-taking and drunk-driving.
