Accident Death toll now three

Breman Asikuma (C/R), Oct. 10, GNA – Two more deaths have been recorded at the Breman Asikuma Catholic Hospital, bringing the death toll to three in a motor accident that occurred at Boame Nkwanta near Breman Asikuma on Monday Oct. 6.

The three were identified as Mrs Faustina Awuyeh, 44, who died on the spot. She was returning to Accra after visiting her husband, Police Inspector G.K. Awuyeh who had just been transferred to Brakwa.

The other two, who were on admission for two days were the driver of the Benz bus, which was involved in the accident, Henry Tawiah, 38, an Accra-based driver and Bertha Tsatsu 44, who was on a return journey from Breman Asikuma-to Accra after attending a relative’s funeral Nine others whose conditions were critical were also on admission at the same hospital, while 13 others who sustained various degrees of injury were treated and discharged.

According to Breman Asikuma Police, Assistant Superintendent Fuseini Mahama the Benz Bus, with registration number GW 3698R, driven by Tawiah with 21 passengers on board tried to overtake a taxi cab with registration number GR1776H carrying four passengers when it was negotiating a U’turn.

Meanwhile the body of Faustina Awuyeh has been transferred to Police Hospital Mortuary in Accra.
