Accident causes death, injuries

Boiano (W/R) July, 18,- GNA-One person died and eight others received various degrees of injuries when a KIA truck on which they were traveling veered off the road and plunged into river Boin at Boiano near Enchi.

The body of the deceased, Stephen Appiah, a 12-year-old Junior Secondary School pupil had been deposited at the Enchi Government hospital.

Three of the injured who are on admission at the hospital were identified as Abubakar Ibrahim, driver of the truck; Benjamin Owusu district purchasing officer of OLAM, a private cocoa buying company and Matthew Amoah, a pupil and brother of the deceased.

The driver who spoke to the GNA on his hospital bed said he was going to load cocoa at Boiano depot and on the way he decided to give Amoah and Appiah who have closed from school, lift to their village. The truck with registration number GE 2956 V had a brake failure, which resulted in the accident.
