Accident at Beposo claims 11 lives.

Effia-Nkwanta (W/R), March 2, GNA- Eleven people died on admission at the Effia-Nkwanta government hospital on Tuesday following injuries they sustained in an accident involving a 33-seater Benz bus and an articulated truck at Beposo on the Takoradi-Cape Coast road. None of the dead had been identified.

The bodies have been sent to the Nana Hemaa-Dokyi Hospital at Dixcove in the central Region.

This was because the Effia-Nkwanta hospital mortuary, which has only 28 compartments, was full, Nana Atta Obiri, head of the mortuary told newsmen.

An eyewitness said the Benz bus with passengers travelling from Swedru in the Central Region to Takoradi, collided with the Takoradi-Accra bound “articulated” truck, in a sharp curve over River Pra.

He said the driver of the bus was trying to avoid a collision with a private car that had overtaken the articulated truck in the curve.
