Piase (Ash), Sept 15, GNA – Mr Williams Awuni, District Director of Education for Bosomtwe, has appealed to graduate teachers to accept posting to rural areas where their services are needed most. Refusing to teach in rural areas would not only defeat the motive for granting them study leave, but deprive rural communities of knowledgeable and experienced professionals to raise academic standards. Mr Awuni was interacting with teachers during a tour with Mr Edward Nti Berko, District Chief Executive, of some schools in the area. Schools visited are at Toanfom, Onwi, Worakose, Akokofe, Kuntanase and Pease. The Education Director said, agreeing to work in deprived communities was a demonstration of commitment to the national cause. One hundred and twenty-two (122) newly trained teachers have been posted to teach in the district. Mr Berko announced that plans were far advanced to expand the school feeding programme to all schools in the country. The DCE urged teachers to eschew all forms of socially unacceptable acts that could undermine the development of education. He gave the assurance that the government would do all within its power to improve their conditions of service. 18 Sept. 09
