Accept final Supreme Court decision – Ahmadiyya Muslims

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission of Ghana has appealed to the key actors in the judicial contest over the 2012 presidential elections to accept the eventual outcome by the Supreme Court.

The acting Ameer of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Maulvi Mohammed Yussif Yawson made the appeal at the 81st annual convention of the Mission at Gomoa Pomadze in the Gomoa East district of the Central Region.

He said outcome of the unprecedented event had the potential to undermine the peace and stability the country is currently enjoying.

Maulvi Yawson expressed the hope that whatever decision would emanate from the highest court of the land, will also further enhance democratic governance to consolidate the achievements of the country.

The petitioners, the New Patriotic Party’s presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo (1st petitioner), his running mate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia (2nd petitioner) and the party’s Chairman, Jake Otanka Obetsebi-Lamptey (3rd petitioner) accuse the governing National Democratic Congress of colluding with the Electoral Commission (2nd Respondent) to manipulate the December 7 and 8, 2012 elections.

They are praying the court to annul 4,670,504 votes and declare Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the winner.
