Abuga says he will re-capture parliamentary seat

Bolgatanga, Oct 17, GNA – Mr Abuga Pele, one of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) aspirants for the Chiana/Paga constituency, has said he would recapture the parliamentary seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2012 election.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Bolgatanga, Mr Pele expressed regret at losing the seat to the NPP in 2008, blaming the problem on the division that engulfed the party at the constituency level at that time. He said, however, that things were being resolved.

He alleged that people in the constituency had lost confidence in the NPP Member of Parliament (MP) and had resolved not to vote for him in the next election because he had failed to deliver on his promises.

Mr Pele said he had been assured by the party’s delegates, opinion leaders and the youth that he was the right and marketable candidate who could bring development projects to the constituency.

He said he served the people as a MP for three consecutive times, knew their needs and could handle them comfortably.

”As a member of parliament for a number of years I have a lot of experience and contacts and will bring development projects to the constituency,” he said.

Mr Abuga Pele said his priority as a member of parliament would be to empower the youth to gain employment so as to prevent them from going down south to look for menial jobs.

Mr Pele said he had been sponsoring some students in the area to enable them to pursue their education, and that his focus would be to establish an education endowment fund to be able to cater for the large number of students in the area.

He said he was initiating the constrution of an Information and Communication Centre at Chiana and would soon initiate another one in the Paga area.
