Abuga Pele retains seat

Bolgatanga, Dec. 9 GNA – Mr Abuga Pele incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for the Chiana/Paga Constituency of the Upper East Region retained his seat in Tuesday’s Elections.

Certified results released by the Regional Electoral Commission (EC) gave Mr Pele 11,824 of the votes cast in the Constituency. The New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Mr Leo Kabah Alowe had 6,242; while Mr Alichima Martin, an Independent Candidate, had 6,080 votes; Mr Jerry Anyoka of People’s National Convention (PNC) got 1,212 votes with Mr Desmond Ayrevire of Convention People’s Party (CPP) obtaining 333 votes.

The NDC continued its dominance in the Constituency with Professor John Evans Atta Mills the Party’s Presidential Candidate raking in 16,266 of the presidential votes, while President John Agyekum Kufuor of NPP got 7,282 of the votes.

Dr Edward Mahama of the PNC had 1,218 of the presidential ballot while CPP’s George Aggudey got 648 of the votes.
