Abuabo ECG Staff under siege

Fear has gripped workers of the ECG at Abuabo Zongo in Kumasi in the Ashanti region following threats from angry power consumers.

The power consumers are threatening to set the ECG substation ablaze due to erratic power supply.

They claim the intermittent power cuts are damaging their domestic appliances.

Speaking to Starr News, the Control Engineer at the substation Eugene Oware said they have notified the police for protection.

“The Central control room directed that we quickly got in touch with the police to come and assist us to protect this installation because a mob from Abuabo had come to attack us.”

“Their problem is that they are off and their things are getting spoilt. And they don’t know when their lights will be coming on, so our private security spoke to them and they left, but with a warning that they will be back if the problem is not resolved” he explained.
