Abongo, the man from Bongo must head Upper East – Youth group

Some citizens from the Upper East Region are lobbying for the appointment of Member of Parliament for the Bongo constituency, Albert Abongo, as Regional Minister in the Mahama administration.

Albert Abongo was appointed Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources by late President Mills in February 2009, but his appointment lasted only 10 months, after he was dismissed and replaced by Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin.

Mr. Abongo’s dismissal was believed to be the result of claims that, the 12-member government delegation that signed the STX housing deal on behalf of the country in 2009, were bribed with US$2,600 by the STX Korean company. This allegation was subsequently denied.

The Concerned Bongo Citizens in a release on Tuesday said even though they were not happy when Mr. Abongo was kicked out of the Mills’ administration, they were relentless and worked hard to give the NDC another chance, by voting massively for it during the December, 2012 General Elections.

The concerned citizens said they still believe in the capabilities of their MP and are sure that, he will extend his good works to other parts of the region, if appointed Regional Minister.
