“Aboakyere” Festival Takes Off

Ghanaians asked to preserve environmental potentials
The Deputy Minister for Tourism, Mr Boniface Abubakar Siddique, on Saturday reminded Ghanaians on the need to preserve the country’s environmental potentials for the benefit of posterity.
The minister was speaking at this year’s “aboakyere” festival of chiefs and people of Effutu traditional area at Winneba.
He said the nation could not move forward in its developmental efforts if the people failed to effectively preserve the forest, rivers lakes and other potentialities .
Mr Abubakar Siddique called on the people to cooperate with their leaders to speed up the development of the area.
The Central Regional Minister, Mr Isaac Edumadze called for lasting peace among the people to facilitate development.
The District Chief Executive for Ewutu-Efutu-Senya, Captain Steve Kwame Armah warned citizens against defecating along the beaches since that could impede the development of tourism in the area.
The Omanhene of the area, Neenyi Gharttey VIII advised the people to support government in fighting HIV/AIDS.
Tuafo Asafo Company made the first catch at 7005 hours and presented it to Neenyi Ghartey VII.
