The Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG) is calling for the dismissal of deputy Minister of Education Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa for allegedly disrespecting them.
They are also demanding an apology from him for allegedly insulting their intelligence on radio.
According to the TTAG national president Daniel Osei Kofi, Ablakwa used unpalatable words against them on Accra-based Peace FM on Monday and must show remorse, insisting they are not backtracking on their strike until the government addresses their grievances.
Responding to the deputy minister, Osei Kofi demanded the dismissal of Ablakwa.
“We will release an article to the president to as a matter of fact sack him from the position he is holding,” Osei Kofi said on Agoo FM’s Morning Show ‘ENE NSO BIOM’ with Nana Yaa Boamponsem Ameyaw.
He said the junior minister is incompetent and cannot handle their problems.
Teacher trainees in all the 38 Public Colleges in Ghana are on strike to press home their demand for the restoration of the Teacher Trainee allowance. They also said until government responds positively to the problems facing the colleges they will not budge.
