Deputy Minister Designate for Education, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has debunked claims that he acquired a chain of filling stations in the country when he was the deputy Information Minister.
According to him, he does not understand why these accusations are emerging, adding, ‘it is a wild allegation’.
Taking his turn to answer questions when he appeared before the Appointments Committee of Parliament to be vetted, Mr. Ablakwa however indicated that perhaps some of the people making those allegations have been misled.
“Probably, some of these people may have been misled. I have an uncle, Daniel Okudzeto who owns a lot of filling stations but personally, I don’t own a filling station. Often when I hear these kinds of allegations, it affects me a lot because sometimes some of my own party members raise questions”.
According to him, knowing the character of former President Mills, ‘he would not have tolerated me in a second and President Mahama would not have also nominated me for this position’.
He added: “I don’t also have any house in abroad. These are very wild allegations and all of these are intended to cast you in a bad light… All those making these wild allegations, I can only leave them to their conscience and in the hands of the Almighty God”.
