Abirew Presby JHS wins Ohum quiz competition

Abirew Presbyterian Junior High School (JHS), pulled 154 points to win the 2015 Ohum (Eba) quiz competition organised by Makisa Entertainment and Events Management and sponsored by IPMC, an educational institution, at Abirew.

Abirew SDA JHS that challenged the ultimate winner at the finals came second with126 points.

Mr Kwabena Nyamekye, Akuapem North Municipal Education Director, advised universities to make their distance and sandwich programmes gel with the calendar of Ghana Education Service to ensure that teachers do not leave the classrooms to improve upon their education.

He called for the need to strengthen ICT education and said much is not being done to improve the study of the subject in the schools.

Mr Isaac Amanor Sackey, Events Organiser at Makisa Entertainment said, his outfit intends to organise such event every six months to help sharpen the minds of the pupils and help improve their performance in the Basic Education Certificate Examination, which has not been encouraging over a period.

Abirew Presbyterian JHS for their prize took home, one unit HP desktop computer with monitor, one unit of X350N computing device, keyboard, mouse, ICT book, 20 exercise books each for the contestants, a box of pen and certificates.

Abirew SDA JHS, as runners up had, one unit of X350N computing device, keyboard, mouse, ICT book, 12exercise books each for the contestants, a box of pen and certificates.
