Abirem gets new Methodist circuit

The Abirem North District Chief Executive, Mr Paul Aboagye Dadzie, has called on churches to continue to give support and cooperation to the government in the health and education sectors.

He said the government appreciated the contribution of churches in the establishment of schools from basic to tertiary levels and health institutions in remote areas.

Mr Dadzie was speaking at the inauguration of the New Abirem Circuit of the Methodist Church at New Abirem.

He said the creation of the circuit would enhance the propagation of the gospel in the area and advised the congregation to unite and cooperate with each other and contribute towards the development of the country since the nation’s development was not the responsibility of politicians alone.

The Bishop of the Akyem Oda Diocese of the Methodist Church, Rt. Rev. Col (rtd) Paul Brewu, said the creation of the circuit would give advantages of autonomy to run the church to the glory of God.

He said the circuit would energize that part of the diocese to move forward in evangelization, education and other development efforts to support the growth of the church in the diocese.

The chief of New Abirem, Obirempong Kwasi Amo Kyeretwie I, who chaired the function, called on the congregation to unite as one people and let the fear of the Lord be their guide and contribute towards the development of the church.

He gave assurance to release a piece of land to the circuit to establish a basic school in the town to educate the children in the area.

The Superintendent Minister in charge of the newly created circuit, Very Rev. Faithful Andam, thanked Obirempong Kwasi Amo Kyeretwie for the land and gave assurance that the church will soon start building a kindergarten and a primary school.
