Abeyie Back to NDC

Barely a week after Mr. Akwasi Abeyie, the Ashanti Regional Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had tendered his resignation from the party, he has rescinded his decision.

Abeyie has actually withdrawn the said resignation letter of August 20, 2004 in which he announced his intention.

In a letter dated August 25, 2004 to the Regional Chairman and copied to the National Secretary of the party, Abeyie said he had withdrawn the said letter of resignation from membership of the party and position as Regional organizer.

He confided in The Chronicle that the founder and father of the NDC, Ex-Flight officer Jerry John Rawlings had prevailed on him to stay with the party, so he had wholeheartedly obliged to his good counseling.

The organizer said the “problem” he had with the Regional Deputy Women’s Organizer, Hajia Hajara had also been resolved and that he had no problem with the regional party and Mr. Daniel Ohene Agyekum.

Abeyie, however, commended The Chronicle for being smart to come out with the news of his purported resignation. “That was a good work” he said, congratulating the paper further for its role in bringing sanity back to the party, on account of the report.
