Abandze(C/R), Nov. 14, GNA – A one hundred and eighty million cedi or 18 million Ghana cedi community library has been inaugurated at Abandze in the Central Region.

The Abandze Youth Association renovated an old classroom and provided shelves and furniture at a cost of 80 million cedis whilst the Angafo Kaku Memorial foundation, an America-based Ghanaian NGO stocked the library with books worth 100 million cedis. The inauguration of the library coincided with the celebration of the annual “Okyir: festival of the town.

“Okyir” literally meaning, “detest” is a festival celebrated by five communities along the coast of the Mfantseman District, namely, Kormantse, Anomabo, Biriwa, Egyaa and Abandze, to signify their hatred for filth through clean-up exercises.

Ms Susana Weldeng, an expatriate Chief Executive Officer of the Abandze Beach Resort, who cut the tape to inaugurate the project pledged to hook the facility to the Internet.
