Abandoned baby devoured by dogs

Kete-Krachi, May 26, GNA – The head, arm and intestines of a baby suspected to have been abandoned and devoured by dogs, were found scatter ed around the landing port in Krachi.

The spectacle which occurred on May 16 this year, drew several residents especially wailing and grief stricken women to the scene. Mr Moses Kwame Ponye, Krachi-West District Chief Executive has therefore advised pregnant women and nursing mothers contemplating abandoning their babies to rather hand such babies over to the Department of Social Welfare for adoption.

He called on residents in and around Kete-Krachi to volunteer information leading to the apprehension of the culprits. Mr Ponye said those babies could have grown to become important personalities who would have helped nation building.

Mr Ponye said it would be premature to conclude whether those responsible were from the town or whether they were travellers in transit to Yeji and assured that the District Security Council would investigate the matter and take steps to prevent any such incidents in future.
