Abamkrom Methodist Primary gets new school block

A new school block for the Gomoa Abamkrom Methodist Primary School constructed with funds by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has been inaugurated. The six-unit block which cost GHS157,000 was inaugurated by Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah, Gomoa West District Chief Executive (DCE).

He urged the people to support government in its effort to provide quality education for the children, adding that, the delivery of quality education must be seen as a shared responsibility which government alone could not shoulder.

“We should not expect government to provide all the needs of the child”, and that, parents should ensure their children were provided with learning materials to enable them to study at home.

He assured the community that a Teachers Quarters would be built as soon as funds became available.

Madam Florence Inkoom, District Director of Education commended the Assembly for providing buildings for schools in the district but regretted academic performances of the children.

She appealed to the children to take their education serious to justify the effort the Assembly was putting into education.

Ms. Eva Quaye, Central Regional Manager of the Methodist Education Unit appealed to parents to invest in the education of their children to ensure a better future of their wards.

Mr Ato Filson, Assembly member for the electoral area expressed satisfaction at the number of developmental projects the Assembly had provided and appealed to the Assembly to provide building materials for the completion of the community initiated projects.

A six-classroom unit block, which was rehabilitated by the Assembly at a cost of GHS 26,000, after its roof had been ripped off by a rainstorm, was also inaugurated.
