AAK Assembly sets up 500 million cedis education endowment fund

Abura-Dunkwa (C/R), May 18, GNA – The Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese (AAK) District Assembly has set up a 500 million cedis education endowment fund to help promote education in the district.

The District Chief Executive, Mr. Andrew Mensah, who announced this in an address at the assembly’s sitting at Abura-Dunkwa on Friday, entreated the Assembly members to liaise with benevolent organisations and philanthropists in the area to contribute meaningfully to the fund. He urged parents to strive hard to send their children to school and cater for them to acquire high educational standards saying, this would enable the children to attain quality education and use the knowledge acquired to help in the development of the district and the nation.

Mr Mensah said the assembly was undertaking a number of development projects in the district including a community clinic at Abura-Obohen, vault chamber toilet at Katakyiase, a six-unit teachers quarters at Kwamankese, a block of three classrooms at Abura-Dunkwa, all under the Social Investment Programme (SIP).

He also urged the Finance and Administration Sub-committee and the Revenue Section of the Assembly to team up with the area councils and adopt pragmatic measures to improve upon revenue collection. The Presiding Member, Mr. Maxwell Baidoo, urged members of political parties to conduct their electioneering campaign in a peaceful manner and advised them to educate the electorate to embrace the Mutual Health Insurance Scheme and make it operational in the district.
