Nana Ofori Appiah II, Krontihene of Berekum Traditional Area, has reiterated the call for peace before, during and after election 2012.
He appealed to politicians to refrain from the use of intemperate language during their electioneering campaign.
The chief asked them to rather educate the electorate on their policies and programmes towards improving the living standards of the people when voted into power.
Nana Appiah made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Berekum. The chief cautioned the people to avoid conflicts, and advised the youth in particular to use appropriate channels to resolve their difference.
He also asked the youth to engage in productive activities, and should not allow politicians to use them (youth) to cause conflicts.
Nana Appiah pledged the commitment of the Traditional Council to assist security agencies, to ensure law and order.
He appealed to the clergy not to use the pulpit to preach politics, but rather advocate peace to avoid tension in the church.
“When tension is high, it is only the clergy and religious group that can calm it down hence the need to desist from partisan politics in the church,” Nana Appiah said.
He asked the media to ensure impartial, accurate, objective and professional report for election 2012.
