A/R: Police hunt for killers of pump attendant

Police at the Asokwa Divisional Command in the Ashanti Region have mounted a search for three unidentified gunmen who shot and killed a fuel pump operator at Kotwi in Kumasi.

The suspects were said to have beaten up the 42-year old Anthony Drobo, before shooting him around 2:45am

They also bolted with an unspecified amount of money belonging to the victim. The area where the incident happened has witnessed recent robberies as the robbers have taken advantage of settlements emerging in the area.

Asokwa Divisional Police Commander ACP Charles Dormaban, who confirmed the incident to Class News, said police had begun investigations into the matter.

“He is one of these wayside fuel dealers who had made a wooden structure just by the road close to the fuel station. In fact there was no door to the main entrance and his room had no lock. The robbers had easy access to him and shot him, they followed it up with beating using cutlass and sticks.

“We had information and the police rushed to the place and combed the whole area. We have gotten some information so we are following and doing our investigation to get them arrested.”

Meanwhile the body has been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital mortuary.
