A day’s workshop on Buruli Ulcer held for chemical sellers

Manso-Nkwanta (Ash), Sept 24, GNA – A day’s workshop on “Early detection of Buruli Ulcer” has been held for chemical sellers at Agroyesum in the Amansie West District.

The workshop was organised by the District’s Health Services Directorate to educate the participants on the signs and symptoms of the disease to enable them identify it and direct sufferers to the hospitals since chemical sellers are the first point of call of most Buruli Ulcer patients.

Mr Joseph Adomako, the District Director of Health Services, appealed to those living in endemic areas to report all cases of skin lesions including what may start initially as boils to the health facilities.

Mr Adomako said about 60 per cent of all cases reported at the hospitals in the district came from outside the district.

The participants commended the health directorate for the workshop that had been beneficial to them and called for more workshops to keep them abreast with health related issues.
